They say there’s no going back, but Jill Henry gives it a try when she’s invited to a once close friend’s birthday party.
The Davises were her family of choice, helping her flourish despite her emotionally arid home. They’re ready, willing and able to welcome her back. But Jill doubts that welcome will remain warm if she acts on her urges to pursue a member of the clan.
Jill has created a very good life for herself, one that’s almost perfect. But when you finally meet the right woman you might just have to jump—no matter the consequences.
It’s tough to mend a frayed emotional tie, and even tougher to trust it to endure. Is creating a family, whether new or renewed, a reward worth any risk?

There a few authors that always write consistently good books and Susan X. Meagher is one of them; however, this was not one of my favorite of hers. It was pretty slow with way too much push and pull for really ridiculous reasons. I'm also used to her writing very steamy books like All That Matters and this one wasn't. There was one long scene but the others were just small scenes that were over quickly. *make crude joke here* Since it is a book by Susan X Meagher it was still a good read especially for this genre just don't expect a 5 star book. Oh and my biggest complaint......why do you have to go online to read the epilogue for this book. I just paid $10 for the book but the epilogue was not part of the kindle release?!?!?! Anyways the book is still worth a read I you're looking for just a light little romance. I did really like the Lizzie character...she was spunky and humorous and totally loveable.Product details

Homecoming edition by Susan X Meagher Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
There were definitely moments I loved in the book. Not my favorite SXM book, but I enjoyed the characters. Their interactions with each other and their family dynamics. Can't put my finger on exactly what was missing, but feel that there is usually something more. The epilogue was great, glad that I could go to brisk press and read more.
I'm not very good at writing individual reviews because I tend to accidentally give away spoilers and plot points so I
figured I would write out a generic review instead and save myself the time and trouble. If I am putting this review on a
book it means that I found it to be truly exceptional and I enjoyed the journey very much, so thank you to the Author for
putting a great story down on the pages.
In my favorite books in this genre, the reader witnesses a relationship develop that makes you a bit envious. Makes you want to be a better partner in your own relationship. 'Homecoming' is one of those stories. The characters are not perfect people, but are so good for and to each other. Of course we know the couple will have challenges, and we know they will overcome those challenges, but the author provides a really enjoyable ride along the way. I love how Meagher always writes a lengthy book. She very gradually develops very complete characters. I've skipped the last few books from this author; this one makes me realize I need to go back and check them out.
Susan is one of my favorite authors and she has delivered yet another great read!!! Loved the characters and could not put the book down. I love how the author delivers a great story and with characters that are easy to love and relate to. So many LBGT romance novels are focused on the erotica so it is refreshing to find ant author like Susan that actually writes very interesting story lines and takes the time to develop her characters. Can't wait for the next book. I also recommend the I found my heart in San Francisco novel series!!!
I have gotten to the point where I almost never buy a book that isn't at least 300 pages. There are soooooo many at 240 for $9.99 that it drives me nuts. This book however, was 431 and frankly, I thought it would never end. And end it did! So abruptly that I'm still scratching my head. What the heck! It kept going on and on and on that I wanted to shoot Jill. One minute she's easy going, the next, she's extremely controlling. If she had given me the ultimatum she gave Lizzie, I would have bid her adieu. Also, who discusses their past partners. IMO, it seemed a bit sophomoric at times. Particularly at their ages. Not sure I will read a follow up..............if there is one.
Seriously? I'll be with you intimately only if you come out to your parents? Seriously? Who does that? That has to be the *most* convoluted plot point I've ever read in my entire life. It's just not believable. Not even close. Come out to your parents first, then I'll sleep with you. But come over here and we'll snog a bunch. What rubbish.
Oh yea, lets run down the list of ex's and why they're ex's... One of the more common thread was control issues. Ok that I get. But then to turn around and do the *exact* same control crap with Lizzie? It's complete and utter nonesense.
I guess I can't *unread* it... Jeesh.
My 2nd purchase from this author, I'm gonna need a second job to afford my book habit! 😜😂😂
The 2nd thing I check before purchasing a book is # of pages, the 1st being author. I definitely have my favorites, and Susan is moving fast up that list. I try not to let negative reviews influence my choices too often because I have often disagreed with them after having gone ahead and read the book.
Susan has a knack for character development, I can so easily picture these people in my mind. Of course, there's often 1 character that I'd like to knock the sh%t out of, but that holds true in real life too, unfortunately. 😂😂😂😂
Lizzie's parents, Janet & Mike, are so awesome with their acceptance of Jill, having "adopted" her into their family when she was a kid and best friends with their son Mark.
I love longer books, I wish they were all at least 350 pages! 😂😂 But I'm probably in the minority with that longing, it seems many people are happy with the average 250. 😕😔
To me it seems that you often get to really know the secondary characters in longer books. They don't remain just a shell, and it doesn't feel like their development is taking away from the main characters' time.
As for this book, I AM little annoyed that the epilogue is apparently ONLY available through the Briskpress website and NOT as a download. 😣☹😔
But that's really my only complaint 😉
